When teeth are impacted by fractures, large areas of decay, failing restorations, or even root canal treatment, they can no longer structurally withstand normal biting and chewing forces. A dental crown is a restoration that covers the entire tooth, preventing further damage from occurring and restoring strength and integrity to the tooth.
What are Same Day Crowns?
Same day dental crowns are a modern alternative to traditional crowns, and allow Sulens Dental Studio patients to have all of their treatment completed in just one visit to our office.
Same day crowns both look and feel like natural teeth. They are custom shaded and shaped to blend in with the patient’s existing smile. Using sophisticated technology, the entire crown preparation, fabrication, and placement can be finished in just a single appointment.
Why Choose a Same Day Crown?
There are several reasons why same day crown treatment is the best option for our patients:
• All impressions and lab fabrication is computerized, reducing discrepancies and providing an impeccable fit.
• Patients can have all of their treatment completed in one slightly longer appointment, rather than spreading it out over 2-3 weeks.
• Spend less time away from work or school.
• Enjoy one of our sedation options from start to finish.
• No goopy impressions (they’re virtual!) and no temporary crowns!
Who is a Candidate for Same Day Crowns?
Sulens Dental Studio offers same day crowns to all adults. Same day crowns are perfect for busy people who have had teeth affected by:
• Root canals
• Large, worn-out fillings
• Cracks or significant fractures
• Severe decay
We understand that our patients have busy schedules and do not want to visit the dentist for repeat appointments. Same day crowns allow our patients to receive treatment in an efficient, precise, and beautiful manner.
The Same Day Crown Treatment Process
Much of the treatment for same-day crowns is similar to traditional crowns, with one exception: our crowns are made right here at Sulens Dental Studio. After the tooth has been prepped and contoured, a 3D virtual scan makes an “impression” of the tooth, which is then transferred into our design software.
The 3D scan is then used to create a virtual tooth that is sent to our in-house milling machine that utilizes this digital information to create a precisely fitted, full porcelain crown. Once completed, the crown is stained and glazed to a customized shade for the patient and is then permanently bonded onto the prepared tooth for a custom, durable restoration.
If you’ve put off crown treatments because you don’t have time, then it’s time to act.
